NSW is offering FREE accommodation for vulnerable students during COVID-19

The NSW Government is currently offering FREE accommodation for international students who have been badly affected by COVID-19 restrictions. Minister of Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee has allocated $20 million dollars in order to support international students through these tough times providing so-called CRISIS Accommodation as well as 24/7 support service for the students facing hardship.

This program will be delivered through home stays and approved student accommodation providers across NSW and allow international students to access up to 20 weeks FREE Accommodation. Individuals wanting to apply will have to meet some eligibility requirements such as being able to prove that they have lost their accommodation, or they are facing difficulties to keep their current one, etc. The program is part of the Student Support Package that the government has come up with after was announced that International Students are not eligible to access Job-keeper or Job-seeker programs.

Applications for this CRISIS Accommodation is open from June 2020 and a finishing date has not been issued yet.
