The rainiest months are from January to March with tropical storms on warmer days.

Public transport
Public transport on the Gold Coast consists mostly of buses and trams. The tramway has strictly one line that goes for 13 km, has 16 stations and runs from Helensvale to Broadbeach South through the centre of Gold Coast with stops at Southport or Surfers Paradise. There is also a train to Brisbane that takes off from the Varsity Lakes Trian Station.
To access public transport in on the Gold Coast you will need a “GoCard” (https://translink.com.au/tickets-and-fares/go-card) or you can simply pay for a single trip ticket. However, if you are thinking of staying in the Gold Coast for a while, we suggest getting the card as it is rechargeable (Similar to Opal Card Sydney).

City
Surf: As soon as you land on The Gold Coast you will realise that the main sport and one of the most iconic things to do is surfing. With more than 50km of surf beaches, the Gold Coast is one of the World’s Surfing Meccas for Beginners to experience Surfers.
Go to one of the many stunning beaches: If you are not into surfing you can still stroll, swim and sunbake on one of the amazing beaches that the Gold Coast is famous for. Wherever you are staying in the Gold Coast, the beach and saltwater will be your backyard.
Surf World Gold Coast: Surf World is the only Surf Museum in the state of Queensland. Learn about the history of Queensland’s surfing and beach culture and check out contemporary art works and the gallery of photos showcasing today’s surfing champions.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary: This iconic Gold Coast Wildlife Sanctuary takes you through 27 hectares of Currumbin rainforest, wandering through open animal enclosures, feeding kangaroos and cuddling koalas along the way.
Surfers Paradise Shopping: Surfers Paradise is the Australian smaller version of Hollywood. Hundreds of shops, restaurants, entertainment activities and a beautiful beach are only some of the great things you will find there.
Theme Parks: Gold Coast has plenty of theme and amusement parks where you can have an awesome time with friends or by yourself any day of the week. Dreamworld, Warner Bros Movie World, and Sea World are just some of the exciting options on offer.
Day Trips
Byron Bay: Byron Bay is a beautiful part of the world without a doubt. Amazing wild-life, breath-taking beaches, stunning landscapes and a chilled vibe in town with daily concerts and cultural activities, make this place a retreat for many people around the world. Sunshine Coast: 3 hours drive from Gold Coast you can find the Sunshine Coast. Discover amazing beaches and landscapes or wander the streets of the beautiful Noosa Heads, where you will find delicious food and coffee.
Brisbane: Queensland’s main city, Brisbane, is located only 1 hour and 30 minutes from the Gold Coast. There are many things to do in the city ranging from a delicious breakfast to amazing nightlife (See OzTrip Brisbane Guide).
